Using MyApps

MyApps is Boston University's software catalog: a single place to browse, favorite, and launch every application available to you at BU.

Signing in

MyApps uses BU single sign-on — the same login you use for other BU services. There is no separate MyApps password. Click Sign in with BU in the top-right corner and complete the BU login. Once signed in, the header shows My Lists, a Sign out button, and (for administrators) an Admin link.

Without signing in you can browse apps that BU has made publicly visible, but each app page shows a "Sign in to access this app's links" prompt. Sign in to see launch, download, and request links and the full set of apps provisioned to you.

Don't see an app you expect?
MyApps only shows apps you're eligible to use, based on your role at BU (for example Faculty, Staff, or Students). If an app you need isn't listed, you may not be provisioned for it — contact IS&T (opens in new tab) to request access.

Finding apps

The home page is your catalog. It opens with a search bar, your Favorites (if any), and the full All Applications grid.

  • Search — type to filter the catalog instantly by name, vendor, or keyword. Press Enter or click Search to submit (this also gives you a shareable link).
  • Category filter — narrow to one category (e.g. Productivity, Creative, Research).
  • Available to filter — narrow to apps provisioned for a specific audience. Defaults to Everyone.
  • Clear — appears when a search or filter is active, and resets everything.

Each card shows the app's logo, name, vendor, and a short description, and may carry a Featured, New, or Beta badge. Featured apps sort to the top. Click any card to open its detail page.

App pages & launching

An app's page shows its description, categories (click a tag to filter the catalog by it), a Details panel (who it's Available To, supported Platforms, and Cost), and Resources links to the official website, BU TechWeb page, and documentation. A yellow Before You Start note appears when there's pre-launch guidance.

When you're signed in, action buttons appear grouped into sections:

  • Access — open the app (Web App, BU Common App, BU Common Desktop, or SCC OnDemand).
  • Download — get an installer. MyApps is OS-aware: it detects your device and shows the right download. Install via IS&T Self Service shows the installer for your platform.
  • Request — request a license where one is required.
  • Other — any additional links.

Buttons open in a new tab. Use the All Apps button to return to the catalog.

Favorites

Click the bookmark icon on any card or app page to favorite it; click again to remove. Favorites appear in a section at the top of the home page (when you aren't searching or filtering) and on the My Lists page.

Lists

Lists group apps into named collections you can share. Open My Lists from the header. The page shows your Favorites, My Lists (lists you own), and Saved Lists (lists others shared that you saved).

  • Create — click + New List, enter a name and optional description, then Create.
  • Edit apps — on a list you own, click Edit, add apps from the dropdown, reorder with the up and down arrows (), remove with the remove button (), then Save.
  • Share — open a list and click Copy Link. Anyone at BU who is signed in can view it.
  • Save a shared list to keep a live reference under Saved Lists; Clone it to make your own editable copy with its own share link.
  • Delete — removes a list you own; this can't be undone, and anyone who saved it will lose it.

Theme

Use the moon / sun toggle in the header to switch between light and dark mode at any time.
